I am a reasonably fit man in my early seventies who was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes several years ago. However, with help and advice from my GP, I managed to control it with a combination of diet and drugs.

Despite this, around three years ago, having almost reached the ripe old age of three score years and ten in reasonably good shape I began to take a more serious interest in my general health and wellbeing and decided to seek the help and advice of Dr Jane Durston, who specialises in health and lifestyle concerns, as well as being a nutritional therapist.

In many ways, a consultation with Jane Durston is more like the start of a relationship than a visit to your local GP. The first session is like the proverbial ‘hour of the dog’ when you each get to know each other. Based on the information she gleans from that initial meeting she produces a report containing a number of recommendations. In my case these included suggested changes to my diet to help control my Diabetes – something which has made a significant improvement to my HbA1c test results.

A healthy diet is just one of the benefits of my professional relationship with Jane Durston. For various reasons, I am exposed to a significant amount of stress and she has helped me explore ways to keep this under control. However, most importantly, I believe my general health and wellbeing have benefitted from my sessions I continue to have with Jane Durston, every few months. Basically, the more she gets to know me to more I get out of it.
